October is Family Health Month & October 1 is Child Health Day
Family health history is an important risk factor for developing a number of serious diseases, including type 2 diabetes. In recognition of Family Health Month, encourage people in your community to learn about their family health history and steps they can take now to prevent diabetes in the future.

The NDEP reminds you that people with diabetes are at high risk for serious flu complications, and the best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated each year. Encourage people – especially those with diabetes – to get a flu shot.
