Increasing awareness about the importance and benefits of diabetes control is the key objective of the "Control Your Diabetes. For Life." campaign. The campaign includes tailored materials (copyright-free) and messages for the general audience and high-risk populations. Campaign materials include education materials, sample articles, and PSAs for radio, print and television.
Diabetes is a serious disease, affecting millions of Americans and growing at epidemic rates, with nearly 2 million new cases in 2010. But, there is good news: Diabetes can be prevented. The “Small Steps. Big Rewards. Prevent type 2 Diabetes.” campaign spreads this important message of hope to the millions of Americans with prediabetes. To reach people at high risk for diabetes, the NDEP has created tailored materials (copyright-free) and messages for each high risk audience. Campaign materials include education materials, sample articles, and PSAs for radio, print and television.
This promotion positions NDEP as “your source for free diabetes information,” and it provides easy-to-recall phone and website information for English and Spanish speakers. Its print PSAs in color and black and white are available in various sizes. Radio PSAs, both recorded and live read, and online banners also are provided here.
This resource kit provides information about diabetes in older adults and suggests how to promote the Power to Control campaign through educational activities, media events, and promotional campaigns.
This curriculum can be used by small groups to learn how to make healthy lifestyle changes around food and physical activity to prevent and manage diabetes. The Accompanying CD-ROM has files for NDEP materials used in conjunction with the curriculum.
